Chester

We drove back to Liverpool via Chester, which is an amazing town. It is the only village left in modern England with it's Roman wall still surrounding the town. The streets are lined with these old buildings, which is the way most of the English towns would have looked hundreds of years ago, had the timber buildings not burned down like they did in London.

These photos were taken at 9:30 at night, so almost everything was closed, of course. Except for a coffee shop with very special cakes and sweets. This is a chocolate meringue...believe it or not!

This chocolate dusted meringue was almost the size of my head and I ate the lot. It was amazing!
